Common Applications for Nickel Alloy Seamless Tubes

Frequently Asked Questions – Nickel Alloy Seamless Tube Sourcing from China

What is the price of nickel alloy seamless tubes from China?

Prices vary significantly by alloy grade and specification. As a general guide (USD/kg, FOB Shanghai, 2026): 316L stainless: $8–18/kg; 904L: $22–40/kg; Inconel 625: $65–120/kg; Hastelloy C276: $80–140/kg; Monel 400: $45–85/kg. Prices depend on order quantity, mill, and specifications. Send your OD, WT, grade, and quantity for a firm quotation.

What is the difference between seamless and welded nickel alloy tubes?

Seamless tubes are made from a solid billet that is pierced and drawn over a mandrel — no longitudinal weld seam exists. Welded tubes (EW or LW) are made from strip/plate that is rolled and welded along the axis. Seamless tubes offer superior pressure rating, better corrosion resistance (no weld HAZ), and are preferred for high-pressure, high-temperature, or sour service (NACE). Welded tubes are more cost-effective for moderate-pressure applications. For pump shafts, pressure vessels, or sour gas, seamless is mandatory.

Can you provide tubes with special surface finishes?

Yes. Standard finish is pickled and passivated. We also supply: bright annealed (BA) with Ra ≤ 0.8μm ID, electropolished (EP) tubes for semiconductor and pharma use (Ra ≤ 0.25μm), and mirror-polished OD for decorative or instrumentation applications. Electropolished tubes undergo multi-stage chemical polishing for the lowest possible surface roughness and maximum corrosion resistance.

Do your nickel alloy tubes meet NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 for sour service?

Yes. We supply heat batches that are qualified per NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 for use in H₂S-containing oil and gas production environments. HYSY (maximum allowable H₂S partial pressure) and pH limits are documented on the material datasheet. Please specify sour service requirements when requesting a quote so we can select the appropriate heat batch.

What is the typical lead time for nickel alloy seamless tubes from China?

Common sizes (316L/904L, OD 25–76mm, WT 2–5mm) from stock: 5–10 working days. Non-stock Inconel/Hastelloy grades: 15–30 working days for mill production. Full container (≈ 5–8 MT) sea freight: 25–40 days to major world ports. We maintain safety stock of 316L, 904L, Inconel 625, and Hastelloy C276 for fast-track orders.
